About Br. Dawod

Born in Hiror, a village on the northern Iraq border in 1973, he grew up in the suburbs of Zakho city, where he developed a strong interest in reading the Quran. He attended Salahadeen University in Erbil, excelling in civil engineering despite facing significant challenges such as armed conflict and financial constraints. After completing his education,

Dawod began his career as an assistant civil engineer, eventually achieving milestones such as senior structural engineer, design manager, and engineering manager. In 2010, he migrated to the United States, joining TDOT in 2016 and earning a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2019. Currently, he is a licensed civil engineer in California and Tennessee and serves as the Bridge Design Lead at TDOT. Beyond his professional achievements, Dawod’s life is enriched by his relationships with his wife, four children, family, friends, and mentors. He remains committed to helping his Kurdish community and volunteering at the Salahedeen Center of Nashville, embracing life’s continuous learning experiences with gratitude.
