Yasin Kokoye

Dr. Yasin Kokoye was born in Halabja, Kurdistan, Iraq, and has dedicated more than 45 years to the field of veterinary medicine. He earned his BVMS (equivalent to a DVM) and a Master of Public Health (MPH), building a distinguished career spanning various areas of veterinary practice. His expertise and contributions to the field have been recognized through his membership in esteemed organizations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). Over the years, he has also published several works in his area of specialization.
Beyond his veterinary career, Dr. Kokoye is deeply committed to Islamic scholarship and education. He holds Sanad (certification) in teaching and certifying full Tajweed and the Qur’an according to the recitation of Hafs ’an ’Asim.
In addition to his professional and scholarly achievements, Dr. Kokoye has played a vital role in community leadership. He was one of the founders of the Salahadeen Center of Nashville in 1998 and served as the first secretary of its board, leading various committees for special initiatives. His dedication to education and religious studies led him to co-found the Tennessee Iqra’ Academy for Qur’anic Sciences, where he currently serves as its elected President and Director of the Department of Qira’at.
